This new broadband package gives gamers priority

Internet service provider OpenWeb has launched Home Uncapped PLUS broadband packages specifically designed for the heavy usage of gamers.

According to OpenWeb chief executive officer, Keoma Wright, “Home Uncapped PLUS fills the gap between the cheap uncapped accounts and the Premium Uncapped accounts”.

Typically, uncapped broadband packages are designed with light browsing and email access in mind and “fair usage” limitations on heavy downloading, but gamers require something a bit more robust.

What makes the OpenWeb offering unique is that during the hours of 19:00 and 07:00, Home Uncapped PLUS users will be given network priority so that downloading, streaming and gaming can happen unimpeded.

That said, the Home Uncapped PLUS packages adhere to OpenWeb’s throttling policy, so users may still experience slower download speeds during peak usage periods.

The ISP has said that these packages will work on ADSL, VDSL and Telkom Fibre connections.

Pricing for the new gamer-focused packages start at R129 per month for a 1Mbps connection and go up to R999 per month for a 20Mbps connection; orders can be placed through OpenWeb.
