December sees five-fold increase in Star Wars porn parody movie sales

It’s not just toy sales enjoying a Star Wars-related boost right now: sales of a pornographic parody movies based on the original Star Wars movies have also increased massively since the beginning of December.

Mashable says Star Wars XXX, which was shot in 2012, saw a gradual up-tick in sales starting in November of this year, followed by a huge 500% increase in December. You don’t have to be a detective to figure out that the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens had something to do with it.

Mashable reports that an executive over at adult entertainment website Gamelink said “The spike in sales for the parody is representative of a much larger trend of brand-specific merchandise for Star Wars, which shows the strong bond fans have with the movies. We began noticing a gradual increase in sales of the title at the beginning of November, but it wasn’t until the past two weeks that purchases of Star Wars XXX really skyrocketed.”

The movie is apparently one of the most expensive adult films ever made as it features computer-generated special effects, detailed costumes and immediately-recognisable themes, places and situations from the original Star Wars movie. And of course, sex.

If you’re wondering how Disney’s army of lawyers has not managed to have the movie taken off shelves, it’s because Star Wars XXX’s creators clearly labelled it as a parody, which grants it protection against such action.

Porn parodies of mainstream movies aren’t new; the adult entertainment industry has been doing it for years, and giving their movies hilarious names that closely resemble their source inspiration. Here are a few to chuckle at:

  • Jurassic Pork
  • Shaving Ryan’s Privates
  • Forrest Hump
  • Naporneon Dynamite
  • Evil Head
