Star Wars orchestra theme, recreated on 50 guitars

There few pieces of orchestral music are as instantly recognisable as the classic theme from Star Wars.

What do you do when you want to recreate it but don’t have a full orchestra available? Well, you just use the closest guitar, obviously.

Musician Cooper Carter did exactly that. In a video on YouTube, he replaced all 31 parts of an orchestra with various guitars, and then mixed the result until the theme was strummed out.

He explained a bit more about the process on the Star Wars section of Reddit. One surprise was that, to replicate the sounds of those 31 instruments, around 50 guitars needed to be used.

To add to the auditory delight, Cooper also wore a different Star Wars t-shirt for every instrument part. We wonder which is bigger between his guitar and t-shirt collections.

Need more Star Wars music? K-pop group EXO released a single in November titled “LIGHTSABER” that focuses on the franchises most popular weapon. Watch it here and continue to pine for your very own laser sword.

As of today, Episode VII – The Force Awakens is only eight days away. We repeat, only eight days away. This is not a drill.
