Where to find free public WiFi in Cape Town

Cape Town revealed its plans for expanding free public WiFi in the metro for 2016 last week, stating that it would be spending millions to give more residents access to the service.

In the meantime, we’ve created an easy-to-use map of where you can find the current 189 zones that are already up and running. We should point out that there are multiple hotspots in the buildings on the map, which is why there seems to be fewer than 189 at first glance.

You can also get access at the Bellville Administration Building, Durbanville Administration Building and the Milnerton Administration Building (we couldn’t locate these on Google Maps).

Plans are on course to set up 30 more zones in the following areas:

  • Albow Gardens
  • Brackenfell Clinic
  • Brackenfell Library
  • Brackenfell Town Hall
  • Claremont Clinic
  • Eastridge Clinic
  • Hanover Park Clinic
  • Heideveld Clinic
  • Kraaifontein Admin Building
  • Mitchells Plain Interchange
  • Nyanga Clinic
  • Nyanga Switching Centre
  • Seawinds Clinic
  • Silvertown Clinic
  • Spencer Road Clinic
  • Town 2 Clinic
  • Wynberg Clinic
