GradeAUnderA explains why you shouldn’t get the new iPhone or Samsung

YouTube content creator and MS Paint expert GradeAUnderA has made a career out of telling it how it is via terrible videos made with zero budget, and his latest video points out the stupid cycle we seem to be stuck in whenever new phones come out.

Before we go any further, we have to warn you that the video below is extremely not safe for work. While you won’t find nudity or gore, the sweary language GradeAUnderA throws out is more than enough to get you into trouble with HR. If you are at your desk, just plug in some headphones and you should be good. Again, the visuals are made in Paint, so you could lie and say it’s your young child’s art project for school.

The core of the argument here is that all genuine innovation and creativity seems to have been sucked out of new phones. They just seem to be getting bigger while taking on useless features which are gimmicks more than anything else.

The first point “Grade” looks at is something we’re actually guilty of, as we’ve run stories on minute details regarding the latest tech. In our defense, we (and, we assume, our readers) are the kind of people who get hot and bothered by the minutiae of the latest tech, but it doesn’t make his points any less poignant. We can’t help but feel that journalists of old would have balked at every site under the sun running a full-length article about the name of the newest iPhone.

What Grade also bring attention to is the modern phenomenon of the things we own, owning us (Tyler Durden / Fight Club reference explicitly stated) as Apple fans choose to brave pseudo-homelessness to be one of the few to grab a slab of plastic and glass as a pure point of bravado. Regardless, it’s a funny video in a sad, introspective way.

Have a watch and share your opinions with us. From where we’re sitting, it’s a funny, relevant and incredibly poignant indictment of modern cell phone culture, and well worth a watch.
