60 minutes is all the time Samsung needs to repair a Galaxy S7

As anyone who has bought a shiny new smartphone will tell you, they’re precious, precious items.

Not because they are so expensive, but as technology has become better, things have also become a bit more fragile. Damaging a smartphone could seem like a disaster, but Samsung South Africa has explained that (in most instances) it will only need an hour to do repairs on a Galaxy S7 – and it’ll carry out these repairs for free.

The latest flagship of the Korean mobile phone giant was launched in the South African market last night, and if you buy one between now and 20 March you’ll get a Samsung Gear VR thrown in for free.

There is a bit of a caveat though: the shiny new Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge still needs to be covered by the company’s Accidental Damage from Handling (ADH) warranty.

If you find yourself in the unfortunate position of needing repairs, in theory it is very simple: all that you need to do, is make a repair booking through the dedicated Samsung portal, and additional details will then be communicated to you.

If Samsung is unable to repair it with the allotted 60 minutes, it will provide you with a R200 Oculus VR voucher.

ADH was first introduced by Samsung with the launch of the Galaxy S4 three years ago, and covers screen repairs and liquid damage repairs to Samsung devices that are damaged within the 24-month warranty period.

Naturally, if your phone isn’t liquid damaged or has a cracked screen, the warranty might not apply, so don’t go driving over your phone with a truck.
