Join MakerSpace as it hosts Startup Weekend for Women next week

The MakerSpace in Durban is inviting women with to take part in the upcoming Startup Weekend for Women event that takes place next week.

If you’re a coder, maker or designer, join The MakerSpace as it hosts 54 hours of business testing and action, culminating in real businesses being formed by the end of the weekend.

All Startup Weekend events follow the same basic model: anyone is welcome to pitch their startup idea and receive feedback from their peers.

Teams organically form around the top ideas (as determined by popular vote) and then it’s a 54 hour frenzy of business model creation, coding, designing, and market validation.

The weekend ends with presentations by teams in front of local entrepreneurial leaders with another opportunity for critical feedback.

Participants should already possess the necessary design, programming or craft skills but need some help in starting a business.

The price for the weekend is over R4000 per participant but event sponsors have enabled participants to take part for only R300.
If you’d be interested in Startup Weekend for Women, sign up on The MakerSpace website.
