Arduino Day, a yearly celebration of all things maker centered around the titular board, is getting a local event thanks to the Maker Library Network in Gauteng and Geekulcha, veteran supporters of hackathons around the country.
Make the pilgrimage and you’ll be able to participate in hands-on sessions, mingle with your fellow makers and hackers as well as listen to a host of interesting speakers.
The day promises to mostly be about the experience of making something new right there at the event, as well as show-and-tell for anything made beforehand.

Our little corner of Africa isn’t just hosting an isolated version of Arduino Day, as it forms one of the 360 official events taking place in 73 countries. On the official site you’ll find SA proudly hoisting a maker flag, showing the world that we can contend. Heck, some developed countries like Canada aren’t hosting the event while we are. Suck that, Canada.
If all of that isn’t enough, scouts from the Gauteng Accelerator Programme (GAP) ICT will be in attendance, which could fast track your hobby into a profession should you get chosen to join.
