You have to love the Hearthstone community.

While most would look at Hearthstone as simply a virtual card game, the fans that play it obsess over every facet of it, from deck-builds to attack combos to the lore that sits at the heart of the cards themselves. When an expansion pack is rumoured to be in the pipeline, this bunch go into overdrive.

Last month Hearthstone players started buzzing when news emerged that Blizzard was going to split the game across two modes, ‘Wild’, which is Hearthstone as it’s played now and ‘Standard’, which will nix all the Goblins Vs Gnomes cards and will be the mode used in eSports competitions.

Blizzard also revealed that there would be a new expansion coming in the near future, but revealed no further details about it.

Naturally, Hearthstone fans started to ponder what the theme for the new expansion could be and one of the possibilities that surfaced was that the new cards could reference Azeroth’s old gods.

If you’re not steeped in World Of Warcraft lore, have a look at the video below.

It looks like this speculation was right on the money; Reddit user That_Azzin posted that they’d spotted an advert going up in Brooklyn for Hearthstone’s new expansion set. From the look of things, the new expansion is going to be called Whispers Of The Old Gods. That_Azzin snapped a photo of the advert, which you can see below.

As you can see, the advert doesn’t show a release date, but if it’s genuine, we’d expect Blizzard to make an announcement in the near future. Watch this space.
