Gears Of War 4 is out on 11th October

Attention all you C.O.G. troops out there, Gears Of War 4 has a release date. Microsoft’s other flagship shooter franchise (the non PG-rated one) will see its fourth instalment launch worldwide on the 11th of October this year.

Announced at last year’s E3 expo in Los Angeles, Gears Of War 4 marks a brand new chapter in the GOW saga – meaning that players who’d grown a little tired of Marcus Fenix and the rest of Delta Squad will have a whole new host of characters to get acquainted with. There are also some grisly new monsters for them to blast and cut their way through too as you can see in the video below,

For our money the new monsters look like the illegitimate offspring of a wildebeest and a shark. There’s no word yet on what they’re called, though, and no word on whether The Locust will be making an appearance. We do know, however, that Gears Of War 4 will be filled with nasty beasts, square-jawed C.O.G. soldiers and buckets and buckets of blood. Shiny!

If October is too long to wait, Microsoft has some more news about the game. From the 18th of this month, any Xbox One players who bought the Gears Of War: Ultimate Edition will gain access to the Gears Of War 4 multiplayer beta. PC players will have to wait for a little bit – they’ll have access to the online multiplayer beta on the 25th of April.

Sharpen those chainsaw bayonets, people. It’s about to get bloody online.
