DA voting campaign and electioneering goes digital with new #ActivistApp

The DA has launched a web and mobile app called #ActivistApp, with the aim of promoting the party ahead of the 2016 Local Government Elections.

“This year’s election is set to be the closest and most hard-fought election since the dawn of democracy in 1994. The governing party is on the back foot – marred in controversy – and we are under no illusion as to how much of a rigorous battle it will be,” DA leader, Mmusi Maimane said at the #ActivistApp launch this morning.

“It is for this reason that we are seeking new and innovative ways to ensure that the DA is effective and efficient in mobilising South Africans to become agents of change,” Maimane said.

The party said the app acts as a one-stop-shop for South Africans en route to becoming a vote-winning champion for the DA. Users don’t have to be a DA member to use the #ActivistApp.

Activities on the app include being able to learn more about the party, recruit new DA activists, raise money for the DA, check the voter registration status of family and friends and follow the latest news about the party.

“As we roll-out the DA #ActivistApp further, we will introduce new, innovative tools for our activists to use. In your community, you can use this app to knock on people’s doors to ask for their support, host house meetings and volunteer to help on Election Day,” Maimane said.

Maimane emphasised that this was just one of the ways the party is working to remove the ANC and win local elections across South Africa, especially key metros such as Nelson Mandela Bay, Tshwane and Johannesburg.

“We have a long campaign ahead of us, and we will not sleep until all South Africans hear our message of change and we build the kind of South Africa we all dreamed of when all South Africans cast their vote in the historic 1994 elections,” the party leader concluded.
