Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger look set to land on your TV

The steady stream of Marvel comic book superheroes being adapted for the big and small screen shows no signs of stopping – or even slowing down.

This year has already seen the release of Deadpool and the second season of Daredevil on Netflix, and comic book fans still have the likes of Captain America: Civil War, X-Men: Apocalypse and Doctor Strange to look forward to in the cinema and Luke Cage on the small screen.

Now news has emerged that another couple of superheroes are about to get their own show: Cloak & Dagger. According to a report on the AV Club, Freeform, which is a part of the Disney-ABC Television Group, has ordered a series based on one of the Marvel Universe’s lesser-known dynamic duos.

If you’ve never heard of them, Cloak & Dagger are Tandy Bowen and Tyrone Johnson respectively, a pair of teenage runaways who found themselves in possession of superpowers after they were experimented on by some rather nasty mobsters.

Cloak is able to manipulate something called ‘the dark dimension’, which allows him to absorb evildoers into his cloak and teleport – nifty for avoiding rush hour. Dagger, for her part, can produce shards of light, which can both harm foes and heal friends.

We know what you’re thinking. “How successful can this show be when hardly anyone who isn’t a comic book nerd has heard of these characters?” Well, just because a comic is somewhat unknown is no reason to think the series or movie based on it will be a dud – for proof of this look no further than Guardians Of The Galaxy and Jessica Jones.

There’s no word on any actors or writers being attached to the project at this time, but Marvel Studios is definitely producing it.
