Watch your favourite videogames recreated with paper

If, like us, you spend more time on the computer than you should, you may miss the tactile feeling of arts and crafts. Luckily, someone is here to show us how to turn videogames into paper.

That someone is Youtube content creator MysteryGuitarMan. Despite his channel’s name, is does reveal himself to be  a man named Joe Penna. He created the ingenious video entirely out of stock images found on the site Pond5.

Using the images, he either printed them out on paper or displayed them with a projector, and made some famous videogames using only nondescript images. The result speaks for itself:

If the legendary Sonic the Hedgehog replaced by a regular hedgehog coloured blue, or Mario as a man in a bad Halloween costume didn’t give it away, some ingenuity was needed here to make the recognised characters and objects. Even funnier than the blue hedgehog and his running sneakers is the fact that his spin dash animation looks to be replaced by a blue piece of candy.

While you’re watching some of Penna’s videos, we highly recommend 8-bit Snapchat. This is a unique, unplayable game made entirely with household objects (the main character is an orange) that uses stop motion and Snapchat to create a “videogame”. Our collective Snapchat stories now look terrible in comparison.
