Watch 5 000 fireworks in a homemade “Death Star”

Colin Furze is one of our favourite YouTube content creators on the web.

If you need to catch up with this mad engineer, check out his videos such as a flamethrower guitar & smoking bass and an Remote-controlled wheelie bin.

Today’s backyard invention is what Furze calls the “5 000 shot Firework Deathstar”. While he earns full marks for engineering, he loses credibility for misspelling “Death Star”.

Anyway, Furze has a tradition of creating videos based off of his YouTube subscriber number. There was 300 fireworks when he hit one million,  a firework powered pinwheel when he reached two million, and now there’s this monstrosity has he crosses the three million mark.

Hidden inside of that half-sphere are 5 000 separate firework shots attached to 59 fuses.

Before anyone (rightly) points out how dangerous this looks, it looks like Furze was considerate enough to go out into a field to set his Frankenstein off. We still imagine some poor animals could hear it, but then we think most of the country did.

At this point we’re not only surprised that he is still alive to make videos, but also has all his fingers and toes. He, however, is lucky. We don’t like to be preachy here, but please don’t try anything like this at home. Arms do not grow back and the local dog and cat population will be thankful.
