Colin Furze is Ice Man

Need a crash course as to who Colin Furze is? Sure, here is he is with a flaming guitar and smoking base, a “Death Star” made out of fireworks and a robot wheelie bin.

His newest project is turning into Ice Man, one of the X-men known for…. you know… being rather good with ice.

Instead of altering his genes to cause a mutation (which would have been really impressive) he instead made a liquid nitrogen “blaster”.  Check it out in the video below.

On Furze’s back there are two containers: one for the freezing liquid nitrogen, and one for compressed air. The air is pumped into the liquid nitrogen, putting under pressure, which is then released through a valve in the palm of Furze’s hand.

The result? A steady spray of -192 degree liquid that turns soft flowers brittle, freezes water and more.

While that video is slick and well-produced, it doesn’t show the trial and error that was put into it.

In a longer video, Furze shows us how he made it. There’s a lot of small details here for those interested. Such as the fact that planned plastic tubing was frozen solid so motorcycle brake lines were used instead. It’s around twelve minutes long and it’s definitely worth the watch.

Finally, this whole project was based on Ice Man, so he should get some attention to. We point you in the direction of the opening scene of X-Men: Days of Future Past where Ice Man gets some screen time.
