The Open Design Festival kicks off in Cape Town this August, and you could be displaying what you make to the thousands of visitors.
Taking place at various locations throughout the Mother City, from August 10th to August 21st, the festival begins at the Cape Town city hall and will spread across the city in its second week.
Makers have two main avenues participation; they can host workshops to teach skills and/or they can set up a makerspaces to spread the good word of making.
There are also community-driven activities, presentations and tours. The final two types of events involve opening up your studio or business to show the public exactly what you do.
Today has a soft deadline for those who want to submit their event. If your submission makes it today it will be included in the printed programme for the festival. If it doesn’t, it will still be included in the online programme.
We know for a fact that Cape Town is a city of makers, you only need to look at Maker Faire Cape Town to see that for yourself. We’re excited to see what can be done with more time and a much bigger stage.
