Get lucky with these Daft Punk figurines feat. light-up helmets

In the world of scale figurines that cost a lot of money, this upcoming pair from manufacturer Medicom gets our vote.

These Daft Punk figures that feature helmets that light up measure in at 30 centimetres and are fully posable. You also get a stand but the real draw here is, of course, the helmets.

Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo’s figure has the iconic curved shape with a rainbow pattern on either sides. it looks like the centre of the the helmet has no lighting, but we’re basing that entirely on the few images that exist right now.

Thomas Bangalter’s figurine has the centre part of the helmet spell out “DAFT PUNK” accompanied by some colour on either side of the words.

The rest of the models feature costumes based on the band’s look during 2001’s Discovery era.

Now for the big question: price. Each member of the band must be bought separately and they cost $229.92 (R3 260) a pop. If you want the pair (which you should) you’ll be shelling out R6 520.

We’ve seen a lot of commenters railing against these figurines, saying the price for both of them is extortionate. We assume they’ve never bought a statue like this before because the price, while high, is quite firmly in the ballpark for merchandise. Check out one of the biggest manufacturers of items like this – Slideshow – if you don’t believe us.

For example, if you want a sixth scale Harley Quinn from the new Suicide Squad movie, that’ll be $250 (R2 542), thank you very much. We think this is just a case of many people discovering a new hobby and being surprised by the cost of it all.

Regardless, if you want your very own you can order Homem-Christo here and Bangalter here. They’re scheduled for a May 2017 release and then you’ll have to work out a way to get them to your desired country.

Finally, we feel it’s disengenious to write about a band without providing something they’ve made to listen to. This is my personal favourite from them, enjoy:
