Open Wheels 2.0 is an open source control board that lets you make robots based on the Segway

The Segway can now have its technology grafted onto robots thanks to a new control board called Open Wheels 2.0.

Sold by Open Electronics  and based off the previous version, the Open Wheels project, is focused on creating machines called “balanced robots”, a clone of the Segway format.

The board is based on an ATmega2560 processor which is compatible with Arduino MEGA 2560 as well as a wealth of pins and solder points.

It comes ready to use with XBee and Bluetooth modules, as well as two DC motors and a range of sensors.

There’s also an app called Android Control, which will let you control your robots with your phone.

The Open Wheels 2.0 is available to buy right now from the Open Electronics store for the rather hefty price of €119.20 (R1887).

If you’ve already decided on picking one up or want to read some technical data such as wiring diagrams, check out the link below.
