Time is a flat circle with this Arduino powered wheel clock

In the world of making cool stuff with an Arduino, strange clocks rule the land. We won’t even point you to a specific one, just check out this Google search and its 481 000 results. Luckily, there’s still innovation to be had, and this DIY StepperMotor Clock proves it.

Made by a South African highschool student going by the name of “Build It” on YouTube and other platforms, it tells the time by rotating a wheel. This wheel has the time written out in 10 minute intervals which is indicated by a marker.

Powering all of this is an Arduino Micro telling a 5V stepper motor when to stop.

As far as time-telling mechanisms go, this is simple and intuitive which makes it a great base to expand upon. We’d love to see a giant version where the wheel is an actual car wheel. If the creator of the project is reading this, get on that and then market it to car dealerships, we’re sure you’d make bank.
