You might get to see a young Spock in Star Trek: Discovery

Fans of the Star Trek franchise are likely to be stupidly excited for the new television series that Bryan Fuller will be helming.

But even though some details are known, there are still some unanswered questions.

Fuller recently gave some clarity on certain points, and during a panel at the Television Critics Association, he explained that his Star Trek: Discovery series will be taking place 10 years before the original series.

He also revealed that Discovery will be set in the ‘prime’ universe – that is, the universe that was established with Spock and Capt. Kirk, and not the universe created in the latest Star Trek films helmed by J.J. Abrams.

“That allows us to bridge the gap between ‘Enterprise’ and the original series and redefine the visual style of the universe. We’re much closer to Kirk’s mission so we get to play with the iconography of those ships and those uniforms,” Fuller said. So in essence, fans can look forward to sets and uniforms resembling the original cast.

As for the plot line, Fuller explained that there are some elements that have never been explored, and that is where his television series will be going.

“There’s an incident in the history of Starfleet that had been talked about but never fully explored,” Fuller said, referring to the first season.

As for the second season, he hinted that viewers might get to see younger versions of iconic characters from the original series.

“We’ll be looking in the second season to familiar characters and how they could feed into the weave, but first and foremost, we want to establish the greatness of the characters that we have come up with,” he said.

Are you excited for the new Star Trek: Discovery series? Which younger versions of the characters do you possibly want to see in the second season?

We much rather preferred the original Star Trek with Kirk and Spock over the Chris Pine Star Trek, so it should go without saying that we’ll be watching this one very closely.
