We’ll finally know if the new iPhone has a headphone jack on 7th September

Apple will be holding an event in San Francisco on 7th September where it’s expected to reveal the new iPhone along with a new Apple Watch.

The world will be watching Apple’s presentation next Wednesday to see what the “iPhone 7” will feature and whether Apple actually bit the bullet and ditched the 3.5mm headphone jack.

If you thought a headphone jack wasn’t that big of a deal, think again. There has been a furore over the last year about rumours of Apple possibly removing the headphone jack from its next flagship phone. Some folks have even launched petitions in protest.

The rumour mill is also suggesting that the “iPhone 7 Plus” will boast a dual-camera system similar to the one seen in Huawei’s latest flagship, the P9.

Other improvements rumoured to make an appearance are an increased internal storage capacity. This would be a improvement we’ve all wanted since the launch of the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus last year.

The entry level 16GB iPhone has always been problematic because, well, 16GB of storage just isn’t enough especially if its the handset’s main storage.

When will get the next iPhone?

Apple appears to be moving fast with this iPhone; according to Forbes, the next iPhone will go on sale Stateside on 16th September.

Usually South Africans have had to wait until November/December for the latest iPhone but last year Apple brought us the handset in October.

We’ve asked the folks over at Apple here in South Africa if they can share the local release date with us and as soon as they let us know, we’ll let you know.
