BioShock: The Collection looks all kinds of pretty

BioShock fans will be keenly aware that 2K Games is planning to release all three entries in the series in a remastered package for current-gen consoles.

BioShock, BioShock 2 and BioShock: Infinite will be the recipients of a visual scrub and will then be released as BioShock: The Collection, which lands on Xbox One and PS4 on 16th September this year.

Normally, we at htxt.africa like to take a step back from any hype surrounding remasters of last gen games. Sure, owning them is a little more convenient than having to haul out your Xbox 360 or PS3 to play an old game and, yes, they’re great if you’ve never played them before. Still, there’s something about HD remasters that feels a little like players are paying money for old rope.

That having been said, BioShock: The Collection looks like it may land on our wishlist for September purely on looks alone – which is amazing since the original BioShock games weren’t exactly slouches in the visual department.

Publisher 2K Interactive has released a video showing how much the visuals have been improved for the new BioShock package, and if you ever played the originals, you’ll probably be more than a little impressed. Have a gander below:

Aside from the visual boost, BioShock: The Collection will feature a series of clips about the making of the games, which can be accessed by collecting ‘Golden Reels’ that are dotted around Rapture in the first remastered BioShock game. There’s a taster of what fans can expect from this mini-doc below:

Incidentally, if you’ve never played any of the games in the BioShock trilogy, we suggest you pick the collection up as soon as it’s available. The games are as smart and relevant now as they were when released, and tell three of the best stories in gaming.

Believe.
