Brazzers forum hacked, close on 800 000 account details exposed

As many as 790 724 email addresses and passwords have been exposed after the hack of a Brazzers forum.

Much like the Dropbox hack reported last week, the data revealed in this hack appears to have been grabbed back in 2012.

Speaking to Motherboard, public relations manager from Brazzers, Matt Stevens said, “This matches an incident which occurred in 2012 with our ‘Brazzersforum,’ which was managed by a third party. The incident occurred because of a vulnerability in the said third party software, the ‘vBulletin’ software, and not Brazzers itself.”

A similar vulnerability in the vBulletin software led to the hack of a Dota 2 forum (which used vBulletin) back in August.

While it was the forum that was hacked Stevens said that user details were shared between the Brazzers main site and the Brazzersforum, “for user convenience”.

The forum side of the site was reportedly used by members to discuss Brazzers productions and stars as well as to request what they would like to see in future Brazzers productions.

Ashley Madison part deux?

While an account on a porn site might be an embarrassment to some, the real danger is that the forum was hacked.

“Once they’re commenting within a forum though, now you have very personal information about their intimate thoughts. We also know that forum breaches frequently include not just user credentials, but private messages as well, and those can be particularly revealing,” security researcher and creator of Have I Been Pwned, Troy Hunter, told Motherboard.

This opens the doors for malicious individuals who might comb through the list looking for notable names to exploit.

If you have a Brazzers account and you’re worried that your information might have been compromised you can visit Have I Been Pwned and plug in your email address or username to see if you’ve been “pwned”.

We then suggest changing any password you’ve reused (especially with that email address) on any other websites.
