Gwent developers want you to kill servers this weekend

The team at CD Projekt has invited those that have signed up for the Gwent closed-beta to stress test its servers this weekend.

The event, dubbed “Kill the Servers!“, is designed to see if the back-end that Gwent will run on will cope when the game enters closed-beta and there’s a mad rush to play the game.

“We want you to blow out some fuses in the server rooms and, at the end of the day, see how everything reacts to a lot of gamers banging at the doors,” wrote the developer.

From today, those who have signed up to join the Gwent closed-beta on PC will be sent test codes and will be able to join the stress test. Sadly, these codes are only for the “Kill The Servers!” event and getting one doesn’t necessarily mean you’ve been selected to join the closed-beta.

The test starts tomorrow 23rd September at 17:00 and runs until 21:00 (local time).

There is another test scheduled for Tuesday 27th September, presumably to fix an issues that arise during tomorrow’s test. That second test will run from 20:00 to 00:00.

We quite like this idea given the number of games that bring servers to their knees at launch. Had a game like say, The Division done a test such as this we can’t help but think its launch day might have run a lot smoother (oooh, burn! – ed.).

To keep up-to-date with the “Kill the Servers!” event head over to the official Gwent Facebook and Twitter profiles.
