Joe Manganiello confirmed as Deathstroke

DC Entertainment chief creative officer Geoff Johns has confirmed to the Wall Street Journal that Joe Manganiello will be the actor portraying Deathstroke in an upcoming Batman film.

The most recent Batman cowl bearer, Ben Affleck, sent the internet into a tizzy at the end of August when he tweeted out a silent video that featured Deathstroke approaching the camera.

Fans were left to speculate who might be playing the villain and Manganiello was mentioned on the list of actors who could possibly the part.

The actor has appeared in TV series such as True Blood, How I Met Your Mother and One Tree Hill. Manganiello’s acting chops aren’t limited to the small screen though, he’s appeared in both Magic Mike films and Spider-Man 3.

Honestly, the only person better suited to play the two-tone assassin would be Manu Bennett who has already portrayed the DC villain in the Arrow TV series.

But which film?

Sadly Johns – who is now overseeing Warner Bros. films based on DC characters – has not confirmed whether we’ll see Manganiello in the Justice League or a solo Batman film.

There is still time for Deathstroke to be included in the Justice League film which is currently filming in London according to the Wall Street Journal.

We’re in two minds about adding more content to yet another Batman film. Justice League is already shaping up to have a smorgasbord of characters including Aquaman, Flash, and Cyborg. With that said, we won’t protest too much at the prospect of seeing Slade Wilson on the big screen.

Our hope is that we get to see Deathstroke and Batman in their own film for no other reason than it would probably be an action fuelled popcorn fest.
