The South African government’s annual GovTech conference kicks off again in October, and as part of the ICT gathering, a number of awards are presented under the Public Service ICT Awards umbrella.

Nominations are now open for the Public Service ICT Awards, so if think there is anybody or any organisations that you feel deserve recognition for their contribution to the ICT sector in South Africa, you can nominate them for the award.

Both individuals and organizations including small and medium enterprises as well as start-ups and Women and Youth in ICT, all qualify.

This is the second year that the Public Service ICT Awards will be handed out.

“The Public Service ICT Awards lead the way as a ‘transformation agent’ that promotes innovation, leadership excellence in IT operations, excellence in public service delivery and transformation of the business of government through the effective use of technology,” GovTech explained in a press statement.

The awards are divided into five ICT Innovation and Service Transformation categories (National Government, Provincial Government, Local Government, Start-ups and SMMEs and Larger Companies), and separate awards for Women in ICT, and Youth in ICT Award.

The awards ceremony will be taking place on 30th October at Gallagher Estate.

This year’s GoveTech will have the theme of ‘ICT for Development, Access and Growth’, and will be running from 30th October to the 2nd November 2016.

“GovTech 2016 will, once again provide a platform that will bring together government and business leaders, professionals and practitioners to discuss, deliberate and explore the intelligent use of information and communication technology (ICT) within the public sector designed to improve the quality of life of citizens, promote inclusive economies and stimulate growth,” said Dr. Setumo Mohapi, SITA CEO.
