Parliament inquiry into SABC postponed

The Parliamentary inquiry into the SABC board’s fitness to operate has been postponed.

Parliament’s Portfolio Committee on Communications was meant to begin its inquiry today, following a tense meeting in parliament, where insights into how the public broadcaster has been run under the current board were revealed.

The inquiry will allow the committee to dissolve the board for a third consecutive time and establish an interim one, while new members for a permanent board are sought.

The inquiry has been postponed to next week on a date yet to be announced.

According to the committee, the inquiry has been postponed “in order to finalise notice of inquiry, names of witnesses and other logistics”.
