Vox drops DSL data price to under R1/GB, nothing to pay until Feb

We love a good price war as much as the next site, so here’s some cheery news this morning. Vox Telecom has just let us know that it’s dropping the price of its Fat Pipe Home DSL packages to under R1 per GB effective from today.

Not only that, but new customers who buy a subscription before the end of the year won’t have to pay for their data until February, thanks to a payment holiday offer to launch the new deals.

Vox says that existing Fat Pipe customers won’t be losing out as they will receive additional data for the same price that they’re paying already bringing their per GB price below R1. It cites an example that  a 100GB customer paying R189 for example will be bumped to 200GB with no change in their monthly subscription costs.

According to the press release, the price cutting is being driven by cheap fibre packages which are proliferating everywhere.

“Not everyone has access to fibre but the message we are getting loud and clear is that people want more data, for a better price,” says Butler.  “This price drop makes getting online cheaper than it has ever been before and we´re excited about playing a part in the move to drive down the cost of data.”
