Titanfall 2’s multiplayer is free to play this weekend

Titanfall 2 is easily one of the more under-appreciated games of 2016 – at least, in terms of sales.

While Respawn’s mech-vs-man-vs-mech FPS is easily one of the best games released all year, the fact that it landed in the same retail window sandwiched between Battlefield 1 and  Call Of Duty: Infinite Warfare has meant that it’s struggled to find much of an audience.

As the Festive Season approaches – and we can hear your credit cards whimpering from here – consumers are going to have far less cash to splash. Since the first Titanfall was never released in South Africa, it’s likely that players may decide to pick up games from franchises that have seen them right in the past – Dishonored 2, Mafia III and Watch Dogs 2 among them.

However, for those who are curious about whether or not Titanfall 2 is worth your time, we have some good news. This weekend, the game’s multiplayer is free-to-play.

Starting this Friday, PC, PS4 and Xbox One owners will be able to dive right into the game’s multiplayer mode, which includes all the maps, match types and weapons – so this isn’t a pared down diet-experience. The following day, this try-before-you-buy offering will also get the brand new Angel City’s Most Wanted content that drops for game owners today.

Incidentally, if you’re an EA Access or Origin Access subscriber, you can download this trial and start playing today.

Best of all, if you take part in the trial and it convinces you to shell out some dosh for the full version of the game, you keep all of the progress you made – XP, weapons, unlocks – during your weekend of free Titanfall 2 fun.

What are you waiting for pilot? Go get ’em!
