The new OK Go video will blow your mind

Chicago pop rockers OKGO have become somewhat renowned for their music videos.

The band initially grabbed the YouTube viral buzz with the video for its single “Here It Goes Again”. You may remember that one; four hipsters dancing on a set of treadmills? If not, have a look below:

That was just the start. Since then, OK Go’s videos have become more and more elaborate. The band has incorporated everything from dogs and buckets to a massive Rube Goldberg Machine. Even more impressively, all of these videos were one-take shots.

So you’d think it’d be impossible to top all of these videos. You’d be wrong.

Behold the new video for OK Go’s new single “This One Moment”.

Okay, pick your jaw up off the floor. Here’s how they did it.

The band essentially wanted to show the beauty in a moment of chaos, so they shot the video in a 4.2 second window and then slowed down the footage. The video contains  318 events  that were all synchronised to the soundtrack before they were activated. There were also were nine digitally triggered events.

Eagle-eyed viewers will also note that the slow-motion replay isn’t exactly all on one speed. The speed of the video is toggled at times to put the lip-synching in line with the audio track and time the explosions with the beat.

Oh and for those of you who are wondering about those guitars at the end of the videos? Yes, they were blown up but they were also factory defects that were destined for the scrap heap anyway. As the band stated on its website: “No playable guitars were harmed in the making of this video.”
