You can explore Johannesburg in Umlilo’s new interactive music video

South African musician Umlilo has released a rather interesting video for the single Umzabalazo.

We call it interesting because the video is interactive and allows viewers to explore the locations visited in the video. If you head over to Umlilo’s website and hit play, you’ll soon discover pop-ups riddled throughout the video.

Clicking these pop-ups will trigger a variety of events including playing a separate – but still related – video and sending you to Wikipedia. The story that plays out in the video is described as “the day in a life of an everyday slacktivist and projections of his alter ego as he consumes #FeesMustFall updates on social media.”

Aside from footage captured during #FeesMustFall protests, the video also features some interesting elements that were created on location at historical sites and landmarks such as Northcliff Ridge, Mary Fitzgerald Square and Constitution Hill. We won’t ruin too much of the experience here for you but clicking one some of the aforementioned pop-ups will send you to a new page that allows you to explore the locations with the help of 360-degree photos.

The video is incredibly engaging and its quite easy to get lost in the pop-ups before returning to the video. We’ve embedded the video below which includes all the interactive features for you to explore.
