Play Rainbow Six: Siege for free this weekend

If you’re in the market for a decent shooter and you haven’t played Rainbow Six: Siege yet, we have some good news.

Ubisoft’s class-based team shooter, in which one side defends a dank building that could do with a lick of paint while the other tries to get in without being shot, will be free to play on PS4, Xbox One and PC this weekend.

According to a post over on the Ubisoft official blog, this try-before-you-buy offer will include all of the game’s content, including the maps, modes and Operators (that would be class types) for the the time it’s live.

The free trial goes live on the 2nd of February and shuts down on the fifth. Head over to the Ubisoft blog to check what time the game goes live on your platform.

There are a couple of items to bear in mind, though. First, all the times on the site are EST (Eastern Standard Time) so it might be worth checking them against a world clock to see what time this goes live in South Africa. Second, if you’re on PS4 or Xbox One, you’ll need to have PS Plus or an Xbox Live Gold account to join in the fun.

If you like what you see this weekend and end up buying the whole game – or if you own it already – there’s more juicy stuff in the pipeline as Rainbow Six: Siege has some decent-looking DLC on the horizon.

Announced just a few days ago, the Velvet Shield DLC will contain a new map (Coastline) and two new Operators – one of which, The Jackal, has seen a slight reveal in the DLC trailer.

More information on the DLC can be viewed during the Six Invitational, a three day competition event, that’s going to air on Twitch and YouTube. Mark your calendars for the 3rd of February if you’re interested – it runs until the 6th.
