Committee adopts interim SABC inquiry report without recommendations

The SABC inquiry ad hoc committee has adopted its interim report on its more than two-month long proceedings. However, recommendations have been left out of it.

The committee met during the course of last week, to deliberate and compile the draft report, following the leaking of its working document to the media the weekend before.

Divisions between the committee members, all from different political parties, started showing when they ANC members were against adding recommendations to the draft report, arguing that the committee should afford all affected parties an opportunity to comment on the draft report.

This was not taken well by members of the DA, who accused the ANC members of protecting their fellow members who are involved in the SABC crisis, including board members and the Minister of Communications, Faith Muthambi.

All affected parties have until 16th February to provide input on the report, but the committee will start considering received responses from as early as 14th February.

You can read the interim report on Parliament’s website.
