Design 3D prints for Monster Hunter Generations, win prizes

3D Print sharing site MyMiniFactory is running another one of its sponsored design competitions, this time in partnership with Capcom.

The Monster Hunter Generations 3D Design Competition will run until February 21st with entrants being tasked with recreating one of the enormous weapons from the game.

The design is intended to be 3D printed, but does not need to be a 1:1 scale weapon prop. “Want to create a weapon at a small scale to print in resin and use as a pendant? Do it,” the official description reads, “Want to make a weapon into a plant holder? Get on it!”.

If, however, you do want to make a full size 3D print, it is welcomed.

As inspiration, MyMiniFactory has provided a gallery of promotional art from the game.

The first prize is a Raise3D N2 Plus Dual Extrusion 3D Printer apparently worth $3 500 (~R46 786) as well as a Monster Hunter branded Nintendo 3DS. Second prize will walk away with only the branded 3DS, and the third prize is an unspecified “Monster Hunter swag bag”.

After submissions close on the 21st, Capcom and the team who worked on the game will pick the winners which will be announced on March 7th.

An extra bonus for those entering is that their design may be chosen to be 3D printed and displayed at CES 2018. It doesn’t state how many designs will be chosen, but they will be displayed at the Raise3D booths at the event.

If you need more to go on, check out this full size Dark Scythe which we featured in the past.

More information as well as the submission portal is available on the contest’s main page.
