Did you get Rick and Morty Rickrolled?

If you’re a fan of Adult Swim’s superb, surreal series Rick & Morty, you will know frustration that borders on the murderous.

The show’s second season aired all the way back in 2015 and since then, fans have been stuck in limbo, gnashing their teeth over season 2’s cliffhanger ending, which has yet to be paid off.

The creators, for their part have been apologetic for the most part. By way of succour they tossed out an admittedly hilarious clip at Comicon last year, in which Justin Roiland (who voices both titular characters), read out a transcript from a genuine court case that has to be heard to be believed.

This hasn’t stopped fans yelling and screaming and shouting at the show’s creators via social media. Last night, it seems the creators and Adult Swim decided to hit back.

The Rick and Morty faithful went into a froth upon hearing the news that Adult Swim had posted up a clip of the first 40 seconds of the show’s third season. You can check it out below:

Yes, we know. Very funny. Fans will note that all of the above footage is comprised of scenes from the first two seasons and you don’t even need to be a fan to know the dialogue is the same as the lyrics of a certain 80s pop hit.

Adult Swim then went onto encourage viewers to both share and down vote the above clip until their hearts were content.

It could be that this is something of a push-back from the show’s creators. Last month Dan Harmon, the show’s co-creator went on a 15-point twitter rant asking for patience from fans and clearing up a couple of comments he’d made about the shows delay ending with:

So it seems, the wait for Rick and Morty will continue…
