The crazy liquid-cooled ASUS GX800 will cost you about as much as a car

Last year ASUS let us take the GX700 for a spin. The liquid-cooled notebook was beastly and didn’t fail to impress.

Six months ago the firm announced that it had a follow up to that notebook in the works called the GX800 and if you’re liquid enough, you can get your own one from Dion Wired and Evetech, but only on special order.

We suspect the reason for this is that you would need to have around R129 999 on hand to afford one.

For that hefty sum however you get insane levels of performance. There are two NVIDIA GTX 1080’s within the GX800 as well as up to 64GB of DDR4 memory.

The CPU is Intel’s 7th generation Core i7-7820HK processor which has a baseline clock of 2.9GHz (3.9GHz Turbo) and all of it is cooled by the same fly-like cooling system we saw in the GX700.

While the GX700 had the option of a UHD display that’s the only display you’ll find in the GX800. What’s more is that it comes with G-sync support this time around. Yay!

The GX700 is like a Bugatti Veyron however the GX800 is like a Lamborghini Veneno to the tech industry,” said the firm in a statement.

We’ll hold off our judgement until we test one.

Of course if you’re sensible you could buy a car, but would that be able to play Crysis? We don’t think so.
