Searches related to the #AntiZumaMarches topped Google trends in South Africa, the search engine has revealed.
“South Africans are currently searching for ‘march 7 April’, which trended at 6am this morning and is continuing to see high levels of search interest, as is ‘Zuma must fall’, which had reached 10 000+ searches by mid-morning,” Google said.
Google processes more than 40 000 search queries every second. This translates to more than a billion searches per day and 1.2 trillion searches per year worldwide.
“Protest 7 April’ is also trending with more than 10 000+ searches, and ‘Luthuli House’ was trending with some 2 000+ searches. Related search terms seeing high levels of interest include ‘save sa’, ‘save sa march’, ‘protest 7 april 2017’, ‘protest action 7 april 2017’ and ‘friday april 7 protest’.”
On Twitter, #AntiZumaMarches has been leading trends in South Africa since last night, with #UnionBuildings, #LuthuliHouse and #BeyersNaude also featuring among top trends throughout the day.
At the moment “Zuma Must Fall” is the top overall trend with more than 20 000 searches. You can have a look at all today’s trends on Google Trends.
