Hlaudi to make grand return at his own press conference

It’s been two months since Hlaudi Motsoeneng virtually disappeared from the public space. He will now make his return tomorrow at his own press conference to let us in on his thoughts on what’s been happening at the SABC since late last year

An invite was issued today on behalf of Motsoeneng. It simply states that he’ll be holding the press conference in Auckland Park (not at the SABC offices) in the morning to address the following topics, all of which he is involved in in one way or the other.

  • Response to recommendations by ad hoc committee on the SABC
  • SABC financial State from 2012-2016
  • 90% local content quota
  • Security vetting for SABC staff
  • Multichoice contract
  • The ruling of the labour Court
  • The new SABC board members

All the above issues have not panned out favourably for Motsoeneng. He and former Communications Minister, Faith Muthambi, were fingered in the ad hoc committee’s report as partners in much of the crisis at the SABC, including its finances and the shady Multichoice encryption contract.

The report suggested that both he and Muthambi be held accountable.

Motsoeneng lost his job as General Executive of Corporate Affairs after the Western Cape High Court ruled the appointment was unlawful. His employment status at the SABC has since been unclear.

Tomorrow’s press conference will be held at Garden Courts Milpark, in Auckland Park at 11am.
