HP’s latest range of A3 printers focus on securing your business

You would think by now that perhaps the world had abandoned the dream of having a printer in the office but quite the opposite is true.

The world is still heavily reliant on printers according to HP and this week it announced its latest range of A3 multi-function printers are now available in South Africa.

The latest range of printers is spread across 16 base models with a range of technologies being represented including HP’s own PageWide technology and the more well known Laserjet technology.

Want more? HP office printing solutions manager Richard Stainforth tells us that this latest range of printers can be customised to include additional input or output trays, features such as staplers and more.

The most important feature of these newest MFPs however are the security measures.

As we saw last year, printers are often overlooked when it comes to security. HP itself claims that only 2% of the world’s printers are secured and it wants to increase that figure.

The new line-up of A3 printers will feature security features such as HP Sure Start which will guard the printer against an attack. Should the printer detect that its BIOS has been tampered with it can “self heal” thanks to a copy of the software stored on the machine itself.

HP FutureSmart adds an additional layer of security which can notify IT teams should the printer’s firmware become compromised. A nice touch with regards to FutureSmart is that it will shut the printer down if it detects a breach which essentially mitigates the attack.

In addition to the top notch security features users can also take advantage of HP’s PageWide technology which boasts print speeds ranging from 35ppm to 80ppm. The PageWide tech also means fewer moving parts and as a result – less down time due to break down.

HP’s new range of A3 printers are distributed through Tarsus and its partners.
