The official website for the Department of Basic Education is currently down after miscreants defaced the web page yesterday evening.

The website was hacked and had images of decapitated corpses posted to it along with the following message.

Hacked by Team System DZ

A message to the government, the American people and the rest of the world. Is this the humanity that you claim, or is life irrelevant to Muslims? Do not imagine that these actions against Muslims will pass you and we will forget what you did to the Arab and Muslim peoples all over the world. I love Islamic State.

Following the hack the DBE has taken the website down and distanced itself from the imagery that populated the website and the message that was published.

“We have contacted the State Information and Technology Agency that is responsible for [the] security system to deal with the hacking as a matter of urgency,” the DBE said in a statement.

The department has also said that no sensitive was taken from the website as none is published there. As for school applications the department notes that these are handled through provincial departments so that process has not been interrupted.

An investigation into the hack is currently underway.
