Creative startups given a chance to shine at Small Business Expo 2017

The Small Business Expo happening later this year at the Ticketpro Dome will play host to the Creative Business Cup.

This global challenge seeks to give startups in creative fields a chance to pitch their business and most importantly network with investors and potential partners.

“We find that creatives are often not respected and taken seriously as business people. As a result, many skilled creatives are forced to do their creative work as a sideline, and cannot make a living from it,” says co-founder of Creative Mzansi Rick Ed who helped bring the cup to South Africa.

“The Creative Business Cup programme aims to raise their profile and change mindsets, helping creatives learn strategy, money management and marketing techniques that enable them to grow their businesses,” Ed adds.

Businesses interested in taking part in the Creative Business Cup 2017 have until 31st July to enter. Entrants must be a registered South African company and be able to travel to Denmark in November for the finals.

The winner of the local competition will compete against creatives from 60 countries later this year.

Prizes include incubation and attendance at a pitch camp. You can find out more about how to enter at the Creative Business Cup website and if you’re as keen as we are to attend the Small Business Expo at the Ticketpro Dome in Johannesburg you can register to attend for free online.
