The SAPS deployed off-duty officers and other staff to 10111 call centres as operators embarked on a planned strike from today.

South African Policing Union (Sapu) announced yesterday that all call centre operators across the country would go on strike over wages beginning today.

SAPS deployed staff to centres and have reported that centres in the following areas are currently fully operational:

  • All across Northern Cape
  • All four centres in Free State running smoothly: Phuthaditjhaba, Welkom, Selosesha and Mangaung
  • Maitland, Western Cape
  • All call centres operational in KwaZulu-Natal: Port Sherpstone, Hilton, Durban and Richard’s Bay
  • All across Limpopo
  • All centres across Eastern Cape: Mthatha, PE, Queenstown and East London

These measures will continue until the strike is resolved.
