Blizzard announces Gamescom reveal event

If you’re an avid gaming fan, you’ll know that the videogame industry is set to descend on the sunny German city of Cologne next week for Gamescom.

Ahead of this event, Blizzard has announced that it’ll be hosting it’s own reveal event in the middle of next week as Gamescom moves into full swing.

If you’re unable to get to Gamescom in person, never fear, because the Blizzard Reveal Ceremony (as it is officially called) will be available to watch on a livestream. The event takes place on Wednesday, 23rd August 2017, at 6PM local time, so mark your calendars.

Blizzard says it’ll also be showing a teaser video ahead of the Reveal Ceremony on Monday, 21st August, at 6PM local time, which you can watch on YouTube.

Blizzard obviously hasn’t given out any details on what fans can expect from this event, but hell, it’s fun to speculate. We seriously doubt that Diablo III and Hearthstone will feature prominently – indeed, if at all – since the former recently saw the Necromancer class added to it and the latter was the recipient of a new expansion just last week.

If we were to place bets, we’d stick our money on the chance that Blizzard will announce a new expansion for World Of Warcraft, seeing as how Blizzard revealed Legion at Gamescom in 2015 at this very event. On top of that, it’s not beyond the realm of possibility that Overwatch and Heroes Of The Storm may see the addition of a couple of heroes. Oh yes, and we fully expect to be updated of the state of play in Blizzard’s various esports tournaments.

See you all next Wednesday!
