Oats Studios builds on the story of Unity’s Adam

You might remember the story of Adam, a robot that was the subject of a short film meant to show off the power of the Unity game engine.

The short film left the collective mouths of the tech world agape because not only was the real-time rendering of the film glorious but the story of Adam was incredibly intriguing.

Now, Neill Blomkamp’s Oats Studios has released a shortfilm that builds on the lore of Adam.

The short opens with robots being led through a wasteland by what appears to be a robotic version of Moses. Telling you more than that would spoil everything so take a gander at the video below.

A blog post on the Unity website reveals that this creation from Oats Studios took just five months to create.

There is another Adam short coming soon titled The Prophet and according to Unity, “both films hint what the future might hold for the Adam universe.” That film will also be released on the Oats Studios YouTube channel but no indication was given as to when we could expect it.

While we’ve quite enjoyed Oats Studios other shorts Rakka, Firebase and the extremely disturbing Cooking With Bill series we’re secretly hoping that Blomkamp and his team decide to do a full feature film using the techniques they appear to have perfected this year.

For those interested in how Oats Studios created this Adam story you can head over to the Unity website for more information.

Seriously Oats we want a full movie and we’ll crowdfund it if we need to.
