Blackberry Motion revealed days after leaks suggest existence

Last week serial leaker Evan Blass tweeted a image of a new Blackberry called the Motion. Many thought the image was a fake but it turns out the handset is very real.

The Motion was revealed at GITEX Tech Week at the weekend along with some of the specifications. Firstly the physical keyboard is out, and that seems to be about the only change from the Blackberry KEYone.

Driving things along is a Snapdragon 625 chipset, 4GB of RAM, 32GB of storage and at the back there is a 12MP camera. While the keyboard is gone the handset does still have a fingerprint sensor on its face.

The battery is massive at 4 000mAh and considering the lower energy demands of the Snapdragon 625 we expect this handset to last even longer than the KEYone’s did.

As for software Engadget reports that the Motion will run a customised version of Android 7.1 much like the KEYone. Users will also be getting the same security conscious software that they got with the KEYone.

The Motion will initially be available in some Middle Eastern countries for around $460 (~R6 315) and there is no mention of it making its way to other markets right now.

That having been said, the KEYone is available here and it might make sense for TCL Communication to offer local buyers a secure handset without a keyboard. Just expect the price to be adjusted if it does land here.
