Mei from Overwatch gets a new 3D printed blaster with Arduino lighting

With almost all of the weapons from Overwatch having been 3D printed already, the maker community is now turning to the more exotic skins for their projects.

Andrew Napoles from FN Props has done just that with this full size print of Mei’s Endothermic Blaster in the Abominable skin.

Napoles tells us that the modelling process went by relatively smoothly over the course of a month, thanks to this being a remix an existing design.

After pouring around 1.7 kilograms of filament into the raw print, it was smoothed out with Bondo glaze and filler primer. The colourful finish was done mostly with Rust-Oleum and Krylon paints.

An Arduino was then added to control the various LEDs throughout the prop, giving a flickering effect to the acrylic ball near the back of the prop.

With the electronics and a few other additions the finished weight was brought up to two kilograms, and the measurements to 25″ (63,5cm) long and 13.5″ (34.29cm) wide.

If you’d like to make your own, start with the files over on Thingiverse. Luckily, this is also the exact same design as the Yeti Hunter skin, so you could also make that version with a different paint job.
