Trump slates Theresa May on Twitter, but tweets to wrong account

Another day, another social media gaffe from the president of the United States of America.

This time, rather than picking fights with North Korea or the US media, Trump’s decided to have a go at Britain’s Prime Minister, Theresa May. So much for the special relationship.

Trump’s rebuke on Twitter (where else?) was over Theresa May’s condemnation of the US President retweeting anti-Muslim propaganda on his official Twitter account. The three videos he retweeted came from a far-right British organisation called Britain First, and one of them was debunked in a matter of minutes as being fake.

May’s spokesperson called the US President’s actions “wrong”, but Trump was having none of that, so he fired off a tweet aimed at the British PM asking whether or not she had better things to do than criticise him.

“Theresa @theresamay, don’t focus on me, focus on the destructive Radical Islamic Terrorism that is taking place within the United Kingdom, We are doing just fine!” the US President tweeted. Surprisingly he didn’t add the words “so there!” to the end of his tweet.

As petty and unnecessary as all of this sounds, the story takes an odd twist upon learning that the Twitter account Trump aimed his missive at doesn’t even belong to Theresa May; it belongs to a woman named Theresa Scrivener.

Never one to let things lie, Trump deleted his original tweet and then directed it to the British PM’s official account.

Those three videos from Britain First, however, are still sitting in his Twitter feed, including the one that’s been debunked. Because of course they are.
