PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has an Xbox One release date

In news that’ll probably have Xbox One owners salivating in anticipation, Microsoft has announced that PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds will be landing on its console next month.

The official date for early access release is 12th December, and according to a report on Eurogamer, the game will play on Xbox One X consoles with HDR enhancements with 4K support being added at a later date.

From the 12th December, Xbox One owners will be able to play PUBG and developer Bluenote says that it’s on course to release a 1.0 PC version late in December. The developer says its also working on the Xbox One and PC versions simultaneously, but says that each version have their own “separate roadmaps” and will be slightly different from each other.

“Various Xbox One features and functionality will change and come online over time just like they have on PC, with our goal being to have both versions align to each other as soon as possible,” Chang Han Kim, CEO of PUBG Corp wrote on Xbox Wire.

“Feedback as you know has been critical to the game’s success, so beginning December 12 we want to hear from Xbox fans on what they think about PUBG and how we can make the best version of the game possible.”

To say PUBG has been a storming success is something of an understatement; in September this year it was the most played game on Steam and it’s still got a sizeable following. Now, we suppose, we have to wait on news on a PS4 version – that is, if there is ever going to be one.
