Five reasons to buy a PS4 this Christmas

If there’s one thing the Festive Season can be counted upon, it’s to breathe new life into the console wars. This year, Sony has stepped forward with some amazing deals, making a convincing argument as to why, if you haven’t already, the PlayStation 4 is probably the console most suited to appear under your Christmas tree.

It’s the right price

The PS4 and PS4 Pro consoles have been coming down in price for some time now, but this Christmas, distributor Ster Kinekor has announced a big a price cut for Festive shoppers. Pricing starts at R4 499.99 for a 500GB, which comes with superb console exclusive Horizon: Zero Dawn. A PS4 PRO starts at R5 999, which is a massive R1 000 saving for any new Sony console adopters. Punters had better hurry though, these savings are only offer while stocks last and the cut off date is the 24th of December.

The bundles are rather swish

There are a ton of great games in the pipeline

PlayStation 4 owners have had a great year in 2017, with fantastic titles such as the post-apocalyptic RPG Horizon Zero Dawn, the fantastic racer Gran Turismo Sport and the high adventure action thriller Uncharted: The Lost Legacy to name but three. The good news is that 2018 looks set to be an even better year for PS4 players. Next year will see God Of War, Detroit: Being Human, Days Gone, The Last Of Us II and A Way Out coming exclusively to the PS4. Sony’s console isn’t just a great Christmas gift, it’s a worthwhile investment for players everywhere.

Virtual Reality

If you want a Virtual Reality experience on a console, the only choice you have is to get hold of a PS4. While its competitors have made some vague noises about supporting VR, the PSVR is the only console dedicated VR headset and on top of that, it’s supported by a fantastic games library – EVE: Valkyrie, Until Dawn: A Rush Of Blood, Batman: Arkham VR and Farpoint are worth the price of admission alone. The PSVR even supports VR experiences on other games including DriveClub, Gran Turismo Sport and Resident Evil 7: BioHazard (if you’re brave enough to play that last title on VR, you have our undying respect).

PSN Plus gives you free games

Signing up to PlayStation’s online service doesn’t just give player the opportunity to play hi-octane fragfests online, it also nets them free games. In the last year, Sony has given away a ton of free titles including the fantasy adventure Darksiders 2, the interactive horror mystery Until Dawn and one of the console’s finest releases, Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain. PSN Plus is the best book of the month gaming platform you could possibly want.
