Tomu is a tiny maker board that fits inside of a USB port

If you’ve been on the lookout for a programmable computer for your next project, and something like the Raspberry Pi Zero is just too big, Tomu may be for you.

As probably the smallest maker board we’ve ever seen, Tomu’s claim to fame is the fact that it not only slots into a USB port, but it’s so small that it’s barely detectable once it’s there.

The hardware inside is an ARM Cortex-M0+ with 8KB of RAM and 64KB of flash storage. There’s also a pair of buttons and LEDs for input and feedback once it’s inside of the USB port.

If you’re interested in buying one for yourself, it was recently added to Crowd Supply. This looks like a smaller crowdfunding site for hardware like this, though we’ve never used it personally.

The cheapest tier to grab a Tomu is at $30 for a single board that has a shipping date of 31st July of this year. From there the tiers just add on more boards at a discount – $35, for example, will get you two boards instead.

Shipping is free in the US and $5 everywhere else, if you’re buying less than five units.

As with all crowdfunding projects we have to add in the prerequisite warnings that what you’re paying for may never show up, be delivered late, or not be exactly what you were pitched. Don’t spend anything you’re not willing to lose.
